THE MEDIA and being plus sized

The MEDIA.
There you are standing in front of a checkout line and there staring back at you is an airbrushed, almost anorexic looking model on the cover of a magazine.  The caption reads something like "How to get rid of that ugly fat!" or " How to look like a Hollywood star."

It's enough to make you want to go home and scarf down a dozen doughnuts or stop eating all together!
Society's standards have gotten worse over the years but there has always been the ideal of beauty being thin.  This has caused an unrealistic goal that those who try to meet it go into eating disorder tail-spins, or just bottom out their self-esteem.

Twenty years ago the average fashion model weighed 8% less than the average woman.
Today she weighs 23% less.
Question? How are we supposed to deal with that?

Answer:     Live by a different set of  standards based in reality, NOT airbrushed fiction!

Now, add the fact that the average american woman is a size 14!
DIFFERENT STANDARDS

  1. BEAUTY IS NOT A SIZE!
  2. NO ONE LOOKS LIKE THAT!
  3. BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER...AND THERE ARE MANY MEN WHO LOVE THICKER, CURVIER WOMEN!
  4. FOCUS ON HEALTH NOT SIZE!
  5. EMBRACE THE DIFFERENCES!
  6. ENJOY BEING A REBEL AGAINST AN UNREALISTIC IDEAL!
  7. REDEFINE YOUR IDEAS OF BEAUTY!
JUST BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE!
A real beauty Queen!
